Leadership in Action: Staying Close to the Business

When I think about Energy in Action, for me it is not only about projects, operations or inspections.

It is also about leadership.

As responsibilities grow, it becomes very easy for leaders to become more distant from the real business.

More meetings. More reports. More presentations. More numbers.

All of these are important, of course.

But they cannot replace being close to the people, the clients and what is really happening on the ground.

Some of the best information does not always come from a dashboard.

It can come from a discussion with a client, a visit to an operation, or a simple conversation with someone in the team.

You understand the business differently when you see it yourself.

For me, leadership is not about being involved in every detail or making every decision.

It is about staying close enough to understand what is happening, removing obstacles when needed, and giving people the confidence to move.

There is always a balance.

If you are too far, you can lose touch with reality.

If you are too involved, you can stop people from growing.

Maybe this is also what Energy in Action means from a leadership point of view.

Stay close.

Listen.

Make decisions.

Support your people.

And keep the business moving.
