The Good, The Bad and The Optimistic View

Throughout history, technology has often taken over routine tasks and allowed humans to focus on higher-value activities.

  • Calculators reduced the need for manual arithmetic.
  • GPS reduced the need to memorize maps.
  • Computers reduced repetitive paperwork.
  • Search engines reduced the need to remember vast amounts of information.

AI could simply be the next step. If used correctly, it can:

  • Accelerate research.
  • Remove repetitive administration.
  • Draft documents and reports.
  • Improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
  • Allow experts to spend more time on judgement, strategy and creativity.

Intertek Moody continues to search opportunities to optimism utilization of AI to support field service activities.

AI could unlock $230 billion for oil and gas and oilfield services and equipment (OFSE) companies. That’s according to a new insight from McKinsey & Company sent to Rigzone recently, which was penned by Bill Ambrose, a partner in McKinsey’s Houston, Texas, office, Georgio Bresciani, a senior partner based in the company’s London, UK, office, Spandan, another partner in McKinsey’s Houston office, and Priyank Singh, an engagement manager at the business. “The challenge is where to concentrate, how to scale, and how to share value when efficiency reduces the activity that many contracts reward,” the McKinsey representatives stated in the insight. “AI is beginning to provide an answer although its value is not uniformly distributed,” they added.
